Borgunto Chianina ragù is an artisanal sauce that brings one of the most authentic flavors of Tuscany to your table. Chianina is the oldest cattle breed in Italy, raised for centuries in Valdichiana between Arezzo and Siena: its meat is renowned for its tenderness, rich flavor, and lower fat content compared to other breeds.

The Chianina: Why It's Special

The Chianina breed is protected by geographical indication (PGI) and is the same used for the famous Florentine steak. Its meat has particularly fine muscle fibers, an intense and genuine flavor, and is considered among the finest in the world. Using it for an artisanal ragù means bringing an excellent product to the table, not just a simple ready-made sauce.

How We Prepare It

  • Selected PGI Chianina meat, freshly ground
  • Slow cooking over low heat for over 2 hours — traditional Tuscan method
  • Sauté of fresh vegetables: onion, carrot, celery
  • High-quality Italian tomatoes, Chianti red wine, natural aromas
  • No preservatives, no MSG, no artificial additives

How to Use It

Perfect for dressing homemade pappardelle, Tuscan pici, tagliatelle, or rigatoni. Also great as a base for baked lasagna, as a filling for Tuscan crostini, or as a topping for polenta. Just heat it in a pan for 5 minutes: we've already done the 2 hours of cooking for you.

Format and Storage

180 g jar — enough for 2 generous portions. Store in a cool, dry place away from heat sources. After opening, keep in the refrigerator and consume within 3 days.
