Extra Virgin Olive Oil
What are the distinctive characteristics of Borgunto extra virgin olive oil?
Borgunto extra virgin olive oil is obtained from hand-picked olives in the orchards of the Colli Aretini, using cultivars such as Frantoio, Leccino, and Moraiolo. The result is an aromatic, medium fruity oil with notes of fresh artichoke and almond, and an acidity of less than 0.3%. Produced using a cold method within 6 hours of harvesting to preserve its quality and organoleptic properties.
Is Borgunto oil suitable for all types of cooking?
Yes, it is versatile and ideal for both raw use and delicate cooking. Its balance between bitter and spicy makes it perfect for enhancing first courses, grilled dishes, legume soups, and even traditional desserts. We recommend not using it for prolonged frying to preserve its qualities.
How long does the oil last after opening?
We recommend consuming it within 3–4 months of opening. Store it in a cool, dark place away from heat sources, preferably in a dark bottle or stainless steel container. The bottling date is always indicated on the label.
Wines
What is the origin of the grapes for Borgunto Chianti DOCG?
The grapes come exclusively from vineyards located in the Colli Aretini, an area recognized for its winemaking vocation. Sangiovese dominates either in purity or blended with small percentages of other native grape varieties, providing structure, elegance, and an intense aromatic profile of cherry, violet, and sweet spices.
Are Borgunto wines certified organic?
Currently, our vineyards are managed with sustainable practices that have a low environmental impact, in compliance with the DOCG regulations. We are completing the process of conversion to organic certification. All our production processes prioritize naturalness and traceability.
What pairings do you recommend for Borgunto Chianti DOCG?
It pairs perfectly with traditional farmhouse dishes: pappardelle with wild boar, roast pork loin, aged cheeses like semi-aged pecorino, and local cured meats. Its freshness and silky tannins also make it ideal for grilled meats or pasta dishes with tomato sauce.
What is the difference between Chianti DOCG and other Borgunto red wines?
Chianti DOCG strictly follows the denomination regulations, with a minimum of 80% Sangiovese. The other red wines from Borgunto, while also sourced from the Colli Aretini, may include innovative blends or other varieties, offering more modern or intense profiles. All reflect the territorial identity and artisanal care of our project.
