Artisanal Fig Jam Borgunto — The Sweetness of Tuscan Tradition
Figs are among the oldest fruits cultivated in Tuscany, present in the farms for centuries. Our jam is made from ripe figs handpicked in the Aretine countryside of Borgunto, selected one by one when they reach the optimal sweetness. The slow cooking at low temperature preserves the natural amber color, intense aromas, and velvety texture that distinguishes artisanal jam from industrial ones.
How We Prepare It
- Fresh Italian figs harvested at full ripeness — August/September
- Slow cooking in a copper boiler at low temperature: aromas and color intact
- Only figs and sugar — no preservatives, no artificial thickeners
- Hot filling in a sealed glass jar
- Net weight: 50 g — elegant format ideal also as a gourmet gift
Recommended Pairings
Extraordinary paired with aged cheeses: Pecorino Toscano DOP, Parmigiano Reggiano 24 months, and spicy Gorgonzola find the perfect sweet counterpoint in figs. Excellent on toasted bread with butter for breakfast, as a filling for tarts and homemade cookies, or to accompany quality cured meats on a Tuscan platter. Paired with our Chianti Riserva DOCG, it creates a memorable flavor encounter.
Format and Storage
50 g glass jar with a golden lid. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct light. After opening, refrigerate and consume within 7 days.
