Borgunto Artisanal Fig Jam — A Traditional Tuscan Dessert

Figs are among the oldest fruits grown in Tuscany, present on rural farms for centuries. Our fig jam is made from ripe figs hand-picked in the Arezzo countryside of Borgunto, selected one by one when they reach the perfect level of sweetness. Slow cooking at low temperatures preserves the natural amber color, intense aromas, and velvety texture that distinguishes artisanal jams from commercial ones.

How we prepare it

  • Fresh Italian figs picked when fully ripe — August/September
  • Slow cooking in a copper boiler at low temperature: aromas and color intact
  • Just figs and sugar — no preservatives, no artificial thickeners
  • Hot packaging in sealed glass jar
  • Net weight: 50 g — elegant format also ideal as a gourmet gift

 

Recommended pairings

Fig jam is extraordinary paired with aged cheeses: Pecorino Toscano DOP, Parmigiano Reggiano 24 months aged, and Gorgonzola piccante find the perfect sweet counterpoint in figs. It's also excellent on toast with butter for breakfast, as a filling for homemade tarts and biscuits, or to accompany quality cured meats on a Tuscan platter. Paired with our Chianti Riserva DOCG, it creates a memorable combination of flavors.

Format and storage

Le pesche della Valdichiana sono rinomate per la loro dolcezza intensa e il profumo avvolgente: crescono in un territorio vocato, con escursioni termiche ideali tra il giorno e la notte estiva che concentrano zuccheri e aromi naturali nel frutto. La nostra confettura di pesca cattura tutto questo in un vasetto: pesche selezionate e raccolte a maturazione piena, trasformate con la semplicità della tradizione contadina toscana.

Not all strawberry jams are created equal. Ours contains 47% fresh strawberry pulp—well above the legal minimum of 35% for extra-virgin jams—and this is evident at first taste: an intense aroma, a natural bright red color, a sweetness that comes from the fruit and not from added sugar. The strawberries come from the Valdichiana near Arezzo, the same area where we grow our vineyards and olive trees.
