Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Frequently Asked Questions — Borgunto

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Borgunto extra virgin olive oil is made from hand-picked olives from the orchards of the Aretini Hills, using cultivars such as Frantoio, Leccino, and Moraiolo. The result is an aromatic, medium-fruity oil with notes of fresh artichoke and almond, and an acidity of less than 0.3%. It is produced using a cold extraction method within 6 hours of harvesting to preserve its quality and organoleptic properties.

Yes, it is versatile and ideal for both raw use and delicate cooking. Its balance of bitterness and spiciness makes it perfect for enhancing pasta dishes, grilled meats, legume soups, and even traditional desserts. We recommend not using it for prolonged frying to preserve its qualities.

We recommend consuming it within 3–4 months of opening. Store it in a cool, dark place away from heat sources, preferably in a dark bottle or stainless steel container. The bottling date is always indicated on the label.

Wines

The grapes come exclusively from vineyards located in the Aretini Hills, an area recognized for its winemaking vocation. Sangiovese predominates either in purity or blended with small percentages of other native grape varieties, providing structure, elegance, and an intense aromatic profile of cherry, violet, and sweet spices.

Currently, our vineyards are managed with sustainable practices that have a low environmental impact, in compliance with the DOCG regulations. We are completing the conversion process towards organic certification. All our production processes prioritize naturalness and traceability.

It pairs perfectly with traditional rustic dishes: pappardelle with wild boar, roast pork loin, aged cheeses like semi-aged pecorino, and local cured meats. Its freshness and silky tannins also make it ideal with grilled meats or pasta dishes with tomato sauce.

Chianti DOCG strictly follows the denomination regulations, with a minimum of 80% Sangiovese. Other Borgunto red wines, while also sourced from the Aretini Hills, may include innovative blends or other varieties, offering more modern or intense profiles. All reflect the territorial identity and artisanal care of our project.

Tastings and Visits

Traceability and Quality

Every bottle of wine and every package of oil is traceable from the vineyard or olive grove to the bottle.
