Tasting

Imagine crossing the threshold of a cozy store in the heart of the picturesque old town of Arezzo, Tuscany. The scent of olive oil, artisanal sauces and jams caresses your nostrils as you enter, and the friendly atmosphere of the store makes you feel immediately at ease. Welcome to a multi-sensory tasting that will explore Tuscan delights, a culinary journey that will engage your palate, sense of smell, and sight. Act One: The Wine The tasting begins with wine, because in Tuscany, wine is an ingrained tradition. An expert sommelier welcomes you and guides you through a selection of prestigious Tuscan labels. The glass resonates with the ruby red hues of Chianti, and the fruity aroma with hints of cherry makes you anticipate the flavors that will follow. The mouth is enveloped in velvety texture and soft tannins. Continue with a Brunello di Montalcino, the quintessential Tuscan red wine, which lulls you into an embrace of elegance, with hints of ripe red fruits and vanilla. These wines pair perfectly with Tuscan cuisine, and the expert sommelier explains how to pair them with your favorite dishes. Act Two: Olive Oil After exploring the treasures of Tuscan vineyards, it’s time to dive into the world of olive oil. A scent of freshly cut grass and fresh olives envelops the air as you taste extra virgin oils from various local olive groves. The first sip of oil is an explosion of freshness, with herbaceous and spicy notes. Each oil variant tells a different story, from the delicacy of a Tuscan oil made with Leccino to the peppery undertones of an oil made with Moraiolo. The oil sommelier explains how to recognize the nuances and scents of each oil and how to use them to enhance the flavors of dishes. Act Three: I Sughi After exploring the world of olive oil, you dive into the richness of Tuscan sauces. A table set with crispy Tuscan crostini awaits, and an experienced cook introduces you to sauces prepared with passion and high-quality ingredients. The fresh tomato sauce releases an enveloping scent of basil and roasted garlic. The first forkful gives you an explosion of flavor, with the sweetness of ripe tomatoes mingling with the freshness of olive oil. Wild boar sauce is a riot of wild flavors, with a rich, savory texture that honors the Tuscan tradition. The porcini mushroom sauce makes you feel immersed in the forest, with its earthy, enveloping flavor. The cook explains the origins and preparation techniques of these sauces, and teaches you how to pair them with different varieties of fresh Tuscan pasta. Act Four: Jams The tasting culminates with a sweet surprise: Tuscan jams. The fruity scent of homemade jams fills the air. You taste the fig jam, with its enveloping sweetness and hint of cinnamon. Orange marmalade transports you to a blooming citrus grove, with its vibrancy and perfectly balanced acidity. Cherry marmalade is an ode to the freshness of berries, with its intense ripe fruit note.

An expert explains how these jams are prepared using traditional methods and how they can be paired with cheeses and desserts to create a unique taste experience. Epilogue: The Tuscany Souvenir After completing this culinary adventure, you find yourself in a store full of local products. You can take home a tangible memento of this unique experience. Choose from select wines, bottles of olive oil, artisanal sauces and jams to bring a piece of Tuscany into your kitchen.
